macOS Sequoia (version 15) was announced at WWDC on June 10, 2024, and launched on September 16, 2024. It is named after Sequoia National Park in California’s Sierra Nevada and is the twelfth macOS release to bear a name from the company’s home state of California. macOS Sequoia introduces iPhone Mirroring, which lets you view and interact with your iPhone directly from your Mac, including its apps and notifications. It adds built-in window tiling that snaps windows neatly into place when dragged to the edges of the screen, and a new standalone Passwords app that brings together passwords, passkeys, verification codes and security alerts in one place. Video conferencing gains presenter preview and background replacement, while Safari adds Highlights and a redesigned Reader to surface the most relevant information on a page. Notes gains Math Notes for solving equations as you type, along with collapsible sections and text highlighting, and the Calculator app is redesigned with a history view and unit conversions. macOS Sequoia is also the foundation for Apple Intelligence, Apple’s personal intelligence system featuring Writing Tools, a more natural and capable Siri, and new image features on Apple silicon Macs. macOS Sequoia supports Macs with Apple silicon and select Intel-based Macs.
